Chap. 160.—An ACT Requiring the Joint Committee for the Norfolk
County Ferries to Report and make Annual Settlements.
Approved March 11, 1873.
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly, That it shall be
the duty of the joint committee for the regulation of the Nor-
folk county ferries to furnish to the county court of Norfolk
county, and to the council of the city of Portsmouth, an ac-
curate statement of all the moneys borrowed by them and the
obligations and securities for the same under the provisions of
an act approved December nineteen, eighteen hundred and
seventy, entitled an act authorizing the joint committee for
the regulation of the Norfolk county ferries, to borrow money
on behalf of Norfolk county and the city of Portsmouth, and
for other purposes. And that they also be required to fur-
nish to the said court and council a statement of the number
and amount of the coupon bonds issued under the authority
of an act approved March twenty-sixth, eighteen hundred and
seventy-two, entitled an act authorizing the joint committee
for the management of the Norfolk county ferries to issue
coupon bonds on behalf of Norfolk county and the city of
Portsmouth and for other purposes.
2. That it shall be the duty of the said committee, on or be-
fore the first day of November in each year, to furnish to said
county court and city council an itemized statement of their
receipts and disbursements for the year last preceding, which
statement shall include an estimate of the value of all property
on hand belonging to said ferries, and the proceeds of any that
may have been sold; which report shall be verified by the oath
of the officers of said ferries.
3. It shall be the duty of the said court and city council, if
the said annual reports be approved by them, to certify the
same to the board of supervisors of the county of Norfolk, on
or before the first day of December of each year.
4, This act shall be in force from its passage.
