Chap. 153.—An ACT for the Relief of Edgar Allan, of Farmville,
Prince Edward County.
In force March 11, 1873.
Whereas, at the May term, eighteen hundred and seventy
two, of the county court of Prince Edward county, Edgar Allan
was convicted of unlawful gaming, and sentenced to .four
months’ imprisonment, to pay a fine of five hundred dollars,
and to remain in jail until the said fine be paid; and whereas,
his excellency, the governor, did, on the ninth day of August,
eighteen hundred and seventy-two, pardon and remit the
penalty of imprisonment on account of the condition of the
said Allan’s health; and whereas, by a recent decision of the
supreme court of appeals of Virginia, the said Allan is liable to
arrest and imprisonment for six months, on account of the non-
payment of said fine: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the fine assessed against Edgar Allan at the May term, eighteen
hundred and seventy-two, of the county court of Prince Ed-
ward, be and the same is hereby remitted.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
