Chap. 232.—An ACT to amend and reenact Section 3015-a of the Code of Vir-
ginia, authorizing governing bodies of cities and towns to permit certain en-
croachments on streets and alleys. [H 319]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That section thirty hundred fifteen-a of the Code of Virginia
be amended and reenacted as follows:
Section 3015-a. It shall be lawful for the councils or other gov-
erning bodies of cities and towns to adopt ordinances authorizing
owners of buildings or structures encroaching in, upon and over
any public streets or public alleys therein, within such limitations as
they may prescribe, to maintain such encroachments as they exist
on January one, nineteen hundred forty-eight, until such buildings
or structures are destroyed or removed; provided, that nothing
herein contained shall be construed to relieve said owners of any
negligence on their part, on account of any such encroachment.
