Chap. 228.—An ACT for the relief of Robert R. Beaton. (H 233]

Whereas, Robert R. Beaton, of the city of Portsmouth, Virginia,
being in command of the 16th Company, Ist Battalion, Virginia
Protective Force, was responsible for military property issued to
him for the use of the men of such company; and,
Whereas, due to joint use of the Portsmouth Armory by such
Company and various United States Army units, and the high
turnover of personnel of the Company through wartime conditions,
it was impossible for Mr. Beaton to prevent loss of some of said
equipment; and
Whereas, Mr. Beaton thereby became chargeable with, and has
paid unto the Commonwealth for such lost equipment in the amount
of $388.81, which loss occurred while he was serving the Common-
wealth voluntarily and without compensation; Now, Therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That there is appropriated to Robert R. Beaton out of the
General fund in the State treasury the sum of three hundred eighty-
eight dollars and eighty-one cents, which shall be paid by the
State Treasurer on a warrant issued by the Comptroller.
