Chap. 212.—-An ACT to amend and reenact Section 1, as amended, of Chapter
111 of the Acts of Assembly of 1942, approved March 6, 1942, relating to
retirement systems in certain counties. {H 427]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That section one of chapter one hundred eleven of the Acts
of Assembly of nineteen hundred forty-two, approved March six,
nineteen hundred forty-two, be amended and reenacted as follows:
Section 1. The governing body of any county having a popu-
lation of more than one thousand a square mile, and adjacent to a
city within or without this State having a population of five hun-
dred thousand or more, and the governing body of any county
which has adopted the county manager form of organization and
government provided in sections twenty-seven hundred seventy-
three-n twenty-eight to twenty-seven hundred seventy-three-n
fifty-three of the Code of Virginia, is authorized to establish by
ordinance, a retirement system for the employees of such county,
including employees of the county school board other than teachers
and of the constitutional officers of the county, and from time to
time, to appropriate from the funds under its control such moneys
as necessary for the financing in whole or in part of the system
when so established.
