Chap. 17.—An ACT to amend and reenact Sections 1 and 3, as amended, of
Chapter 573, Acts of Assembly of 1926, approved March 31, 1926, relating to
parking of vehicles in the Capitol Square, so as to reserve certain areas for
parking and to confer jurisdiction as to violations of the Act. {H 52)

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That sections one and three, as amended, of chapter five
hundred seventy-three, Acts of Assembly of nineteen hundred
twenty-six, approved March thirty-one, nineteen hundred twenty-
six, be amended and reenacted as follows:
Section 1. All parking in the Capitol Square of motor vehicles
and animal drawn vehicles is hereby prohibited ; provided, however,
that this act shall not apply during regular or special sessions of
the General Assembly ; and, provided, further, that during the recess
of the General Assembly, the Director of the Division of Grounds
and Buildings may, in his discretion, cause to be marked off certain
portions of the driveways in the Capitol Square and permit such
vehicles to be parked therein under such rules and regulations as he
may prescribe. The Director shall, at all times, reserve parking
areas on the west of the Capitol for parking by members of the
General Assembly.
Section 3. Any person parking any vehicle contrary to the pro-
visions of this act, or contrary to any parking sign or no parking
sign erected by the Director of the Division of Grounds and Build-
ings pursuant to rules and regulations promulgated by him, shall be
subject to a fine of not less than one dollar nor more than twenty-
five dollars for each offense,
