Chap. 157.—An ACT to authorize the governing body of the town of Emporia
to appropriate funds of such town for the purchase, construction, maintenance,
repair and operation of recreation centers, parks, libraries, civic centers,
hospital or health centers.
Approved March 6, 1948
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. Section 1. The governing body of the town of Emporia
may appropriate funds of such town to be used in connection with
the purchase, construction, maintenance, repair, and operation of
any recreation center, park, library, civic center, hospital or health
center in the county of Greensville or in the town of Emporia.
Section 2. Funds appropriated may be contributed to the
Emporia and Greensville Recreational Association, or to any corpo-
ration or association for the purpose of, or to aid in, the purchasing,
construction, maintenance, repair and operation of any such facility
in the county of Greensville or in the town of Emporia. The gov-
erning body of the town of Emporia may give or sell to such
corporation or association such land or building which the town
of Emporia may now own or may hereafter acquire, and may
appropriate from time to time such sum or sums of money as may
be necessary to care for, protect, operate and maintain any such
facility, or to aid in any such purpose.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
