Chap. 14.—An ACT to amend and reenact Section 5, as amended, of Chapter 322
of the Acts of Assembly of 1899-1900, approved February 14, 1900, which in-
corporated the town of Stanley, in Page County, Virginia, the section relatin
to election and terms of office of the council of the town. {H rr

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That section five, as amended, of chapter three hundred
twenty-two of the Acts of Assembly of eighteen hundred ninety-
nine-nineteen hundred, approved February fourteen, nineteen hun-
dred, be amended and reenacted as follows:
Section 5. The council shall be elected by the qualified voters
on the second Tuesday in June, nineteen hundred twenty-six, for
a term of two years and every two years thereafter, and their term
of office shall begin on the first day of September, next ensuing, and
they shall hold office until their successors shall have qualified;
provided, that after the year nineteen hundred forty-eight the elec-
tion for members of the council shall be held in the odd numbered
years. The members of the council elected at the election held in
June, nineteen hundred forty-eight, shall hold office for terms of
three vears, their successors shall be elected on the second Tuesday
in June, nineteen hundred fifty-one, and shall hold office for terms
of two years.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
