Chap. 109.—An ACT to authorize the governing bodies of political subdivisions
to exercise certain powers relative to the adoption of certain ordinances. [S 42]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. The governing body of any county, city or town may adopt
eby reference any building, fire protection, or fire prevention code
promulgated by any authoritative body provided however that
such code if adopted shall meet the minimum standards prescribed
by the Virginia Fire Hazards Law. Any such ordinance shall be
published as other ordinances are required to be published and
shall state in exact and explicit terms the code proposed to be
adopted and the year of publication or other identifying data. No
such codé, or any amendment to such code if adopted by any such
county, city or town shall be required to be published at length;
the public notice and the ordinance proposing the adoption or
amendment of such code shall state the exact location at which
and the hours during which copies of such code may be obtained.
A reasonable number of copies shall be kept in the office of the
official designated in the ordinance and at least one copy shall be
kept on file at all times in the office of the enforcing official.
