Chap. 13.—An ACT to Amend the Charter of the Town of Seddon, in the
County of Bland.
In force December 24, 1872.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That.
the third section of an act entitled an “act to incorporate the
town of Seddon, in the county of Bland,” passed March
twenty-second, eighteen hundred and seventy-two, be re-enacted
and amended so as to read as follows:
§3. The officers of said town shall consist of seven trus-
tees, who ghall compose the council, a majority of whom may
constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. The said
board of trustees shall have power to pass all by-laws and
ordinances for the government of said town that they may
deem proper, not in conflict with the constitution of this state
or of the United States; and also to provide for keeping the
streets in order, opening new streets, and grading and paving
the same, and for other necessary improvements; for which pur-
poses they may levy such tax as they may deem proper on all the
property in said town, and on all the vocations, professions or
business, as are now subject to taxation by the revenue laws of
this state: provided, that no tax be levied on any lands in the
corporate limits of the town, except on the lots which have
been surveyed and sold as town lots. .
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
