Chap. 295.—An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a new section
numbered 1516-a, providing what acts of tubercular persons constitute mis-
demeanor and penalty therefor. [H B 257]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a new section
numbered fifteen hundred sixteen-a, as follows:
Section 1516-a. What acts of tubercular persons to constitute a
nusdemeanor; penalty—Any person who has tuberculosis in the com-
municable form who, after having been instructed in writing by the local
board of health, department of health or health officer or superintendent
of any sanatorium of the State to take precautions, which are set forth
in such writing to protect the members of his household and the public
from being infected by tuberculosis communicated by such person, wil-
fully refuses to follow such instructions shall, upon proof that same are
proper and necessary in the interest of the public health be guilty of a
misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof may be confined in such place
as the court may designate, for a term of not exceeding six months; in
addition, any such person may be requiréd upon his release to post a bond
with the court in the amount of not exceeding one hundred dollars con-
ditioned upon his proper performance of such precautions.
