Chap. 273.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 200 of the Code of Virginia,
as amended, relating to compensation of certain election officials. [S B 210]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That section two hundred of the Code of Virginia, as amended,
be amended and re-enacted, as follows:
Section 200. Pay of judges, clerks, registrars and commissioners.
—The judges, clerksregistrars and commissioners of any election shall
receive as compensation for their services the sum of five dollars each
for each day’s service rendered including in the case of registrars the days
on which they are required by law to sit for the purpose of registering
persons applying to be registered; and the judge carrying the returns
and tickets to and from his voting place and to the county clerk's office
shall receive the mileage now allowed to jurors for each mile necessarily
traveled and five dollars for carrying the returns and records to the
county clerk's office, and the commissioners of election shall receive the
mileage now allowed to jurors for each mile necessarily traveled, to be
paid out of the treasury of the county, city or town in which the election
is held; provided that the governing body of any city, town or county
may supplement the compensation herein prescribed for judges, clerks,
registrars and commissioners of election or for any one or more of them.
