Chap. 247.—To authorize the council of the Town of Farmville to appropriate
town funds for the purchase or erection and maintenance of a memorial to cer-
tain veterans. [S B 247]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virgifia:
1. The town council of the town of Farmville, Virginia, is auth-
orized to appropriate town funds for the purchase, construction, re-
construction, maintenance, repair and operation of a veterans memorial,
veterans home, recreation center, park or other similar structure or places
in the county of Prince Edward or town of Farmville as a monument
to the war veterans of said town and county.
Funds appropriated may be contributed by such council to the
Prince Edward War Memorial Association, Incorporated, or to any
corporation or association for the purpose of, or to aid in, the purchas-
ing, construction, reconstruction, maintenance, repair and operation of
such memorial in the county of Prince Edward or the Town of Farm-
ville; and provided further that such council may give or sell to such
corporation or association such land or building which the town of Farm-
ville owns or may hereafter acquire; and they are also authorized and
empowered to appropriate from time to time such sum or sums of money
as may be necessary to care for, protect, operate and maintain such
memorial, or to aid in any such purposes.
An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
