Chap. 246.—An ACT to authorize the governing body of the County of Prince
Edward to appropriate county funds for the purchase or erection and _main-
tenance of certain property as a memorial to certain war veterans. [S B 246]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. The governing body of the county of Prince Edward is auth-
orized to appropriate county funds for the purchase, construction, re-
construction, maintenance, repair and operation of a veterans memorial,
veterans home, recreation center, park or other similar structure or
places in the county of Prince Edward or town of Farmville as a monu-
ment to the war veterans of such town and county.
Funds appropriated may be contributed by such governing body
to the Prince Edward War Memorial Association, Incorporated, or to
any corporation or association for the purpose of, or to aid in, the pur-
chasing, construction, reconstruction, maintenance, repair and operation
of such memorials in the county of Prince Edward or the town of Farm-
ville; and provided that such governing body may give or sell to such
corporation or association such land or building which the county of
Prince Edward owns or may hereafter acquire; and they are also auth-
orized and empowered to appropriate from time to time such sum or
sums of money as may be necessary to care for, protect, operate and
maintain such memorial, or to aid in any such purpose.
An emergency exists and this act 1s in force from its passage.
