CHAP. 226.—An ACT to add a new section to the Code of Virginia to be numbered
Section 5194-a, relating to the recordation of bills of sale, contracts and other
instruments affecting the title to or an interest in civil aircraft of the United
States. [S B 128}

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding thereto a new
ection to be numbered fifty-one hundred ninety-four-a, reading as fol-
OWS:
Section 5194-a. No instrument which affects the title to or interest
n any civil aircraft of the United States, as defined by federal law, or
ny portion thereof, shall be valid in respect of such aircraft or portion
hereof, against any person other than the person by whom the instru-
nent is made or given, his heir or devisee, and any person having actual
.otice thereof, until such instrument is recorded in the Office of the Civil
\eronautic Administrator of the United States, or such other office as is
lesignated by the laws of the United States as the one in which such in-
truments should be filed. Every such instrument so recorded in such of-
ice shall be valid as to all persons without further recordation in any of-
ice in this State, the provisions of any other recordation statute to the
ontrary notwithstanding. Any instrument, recordation of which is re-
ured by the provisions of this act, shall take effect from the date of its
ecordation and not from the date of its execution.
