Chap. 165.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 3, as amended, of Chapter
141 of the Acts of Assembly of 1874-5, approved March 8, 1875, which chapter
provided a charter for the Town of Glade Spring, Section 3 relating to the
mayor and councilmen and other officers. [H B 305]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That section three, as amended, of chapter one hundred forty-
one of the Acts of Assembly of eighteen hundred seventy-four-five, ap-
proved March eight, eighteen hundred seventy-five, be amended and re-
enacted, as follows:
Section 3. Noah C. Baldwin is hereby appointed Mayor of said
town, and James S. Jones, Martin Van Buren Edmundson, John B.
Allison, Benjamin D. Ligon, Benjamin W. Curtis, and Eldred R. Baylor,
are hereby appointed councilmen thereof, any three of whom shall con-
stitute a quorum for the transaction of business. The mayor and council
shall have power to appoint a sergeant and such other officers as may be
necessary together with a police force for the preservation of order, who
shall remain in office until their successors are appointed and qualified ac-
cording to law. The said mayor and councilmen above named and ap-
pointed in this act, shall continue in office until the fourth Thursday in
May, eighteen hundred and seventy-five, and thereafter until their suc-
cessors shall be elected and qualified.
