Chap. 342.—An ACT to authorize the Clerk of the Senate and the Clerk of. the
House of Delegates, with the approval of the Attorney General, to enter into
a contract on behalf of the Commonwealth with Charles F. Thompson or his
’ assigns with respect to the voting machine systems of the House of Delegates
' - and the Senate,-and the machines, tools, dies, and other property used in the
. construction and building. thereof. ' : [S 223]

Be it enacted: by the General Assembly of Virginia:
Section 1. That the Clerk of the Senate and the Clerk of the House
of Delegates ate hereby authorized and empowered on behalf of the
Commonwealth of Virginia to enter into a contract or contracts with
Charles F. Thompson or his assigns to accomplish any one or more ot
the following purposes :
(a) A final settlement of the differences now existing with respect
to what machines, tools, dies, and other articles of personal property
shall be turned over to said Charles F. Thompson or his assigns, and the
rights, if any, of the Commonwealth to-use same after beitig so delivered
or turned over, and the delivery by said Clerks of said ‘Property’ pursu-
ant to said settlement: 7
(b) An arrangement ‘or agreement for servicing and /or maintaining
the said voting machine systems. Any amounts to be paid under any
such agreement shall be paid out of the appropriation to the General
Assembly for legislating for the State.
(c) A settlement of the question whether the said Charles F’ Thomp-
son or his assigns shall be permitted to continue to use the rooms in the
State Office Building as a machine shop or ‘workshop in building or
constructing voting machines or parts thereof for sale to others than the
Commonwealth, along with work to be done in connection with main-
tenance of the Virginia voting machine systems, or whether the use of
said rooms by said Thompson or assigns for any, purpose shall be dis-
continued. |
Section 2. Any contract made pursuant to the authority conferred
by this act must be approved by the Attorney General.
Section 3. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from
the time of its passage. : |
