Chap. 291.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 5 as amended of an act en-
titled “An Act to amend an act entitled an act to incorporate the Mount Vernon
Ladies Association of the Union, and to authorize the purchase of a part of
Mount Vernon, passed March 17, 1856.”, passed March 19, 1858, which section
was added thereto by Chapter 354 of the Acts of Assembly of "1876-1877, ap-
proved April 4, 1877, to make certain changes relative to the board of vaso

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That section five as amended of an act entitled “An Act to amend
an act entitled an act to incorporate the Mount Vernon Ladies Associa-
tion of the Union, and to authorize the purchase of a part of Mount
Vernon, passed. March seventeen, eighteen hundred fifty-six.”, passed
March nineteen, eighteen hundred fifty-eight, which section was added
thereto by chapter three hundred fifty-four of the Acts of Assembly of
eighteen hundred seventy-six and eighteen hundred seventy-seven, ap-
proved April four, eighteen hundred seventy-seven, be amended and re-
enacted, as follows:
Section 5. The Governor of Virginia shall annually appoint and
commission seven suitable and proper persons, who shall constitute a
board of visitors for Mount Vernon, with the ordinary powers of a board
of visitors, whose duty it shall be to visit. that place and examine and
faithfully report to the Governor all the proceedings of the association
touching Mount Vernon and the manner in which they comply or fail to
comply with this act and other laws of the land. But no allowance shall
be made by the association or the State for expenses incurred by the
board of visitors in the discharge of the duties prescribed under the
provisions of this act.
