Chap. 270.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 1, as amended, of Chapter
170 of the Acts of Assembly of 1936, approved March 12, 1936, relating t
composition and appointment of the Virginia Advisory Legislative Council.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That section one, as amended, of chapter one hundred seventy
of the Acts of Assembly of nineteen hundred thirty-six, approved March
twelve, nineteen hundred thirty-six, be amended and re-enacted, as fol-
lows:
Section 1. There is hereby created a legislative council to be knowr
as the Virginia Advisory Legislative Council, hereafter referred to in
this act as the council. The council shall consist of nine members, of
whom four shall be appointed by the President of the Senate from the
membership of the Senate, five by the Speaker of the House of Dele-
gates from the membership of the House. The members shall hold of-
fice until the adjournment of the next regular session of the General
Assembly, and until their successors have been appointed. Vacancies
in the membership of the council shall be filled in the same manner as
original appointments are made, except that if for any reason an appoint-
ment cannot be made by the President or President pro tempore of the
Senate or the Speaker of the House of Delegates, the vacancy shall be
filled by the Governor. The council shall designate one of its members
as chairman.
