Chap. 167.—An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a new section num-
bered 2772, relating to salaries of clerks of boards of supervisors, and to repeal
Section 2773 of the Code, relating to the same subject. {H 147]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a new section
numbered twenty-seven hundred seventy-two, as follows:
Section 2772. Salary of clerks—Such clerk shall receive a reason-
able compensation for his services as clerk of the board not to exceed
in any one year the sum of one hundred fifty dollars, and the clerks of
the boards of the counties of Augusta and Wise may, in the discretion
of the boards, receive a salary not exceeding nine hundred dollars a year,
and the clerks of the boards of the counties of Amelia, Bath, Highland,
Dinwiddie, Lee, Grayson, Buchanan, Russell, Prince George, Surry,
Gloucester, Mathews, Middlesex, Pulaski, Southampton and Notto-
way may, in the discretion of the boards, receive a salary of not exceed-
ing three hundred dollars a year, and the clerk of the board of the
county of Culpeper may, in the discretion of the board, receive a salary
not to exceed the sum of six hundred dollars a year, and the clerk of the
board of supervisors of Fairfax and Rockingham Counties may, in the
discretion of the board, receive a salary not in excess of twelve hundred
dollars a year, and the clerk of the board of supervisors of Alleghany
County may, in the discretion of the board, receive a salary not 1n excess
of seven hundred dollars a year.
2. Section twenty-seven hundred seventy-three of the Code of Vir-
ginia, relating to salaries of clerks of boards of supervisors, is repealed.
