Approved March 6, 1944
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That there is hereby appropriated to the City of Martinsville,
Virginia, out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated,
the sum of five thousand, two hundred one dollars and sixty cents, to
reimburse the City of Martinsville for a like amount in taxes for the
years nineteen hundred forty-two and nineteen hundred forty-three on
the shares of stock of banks located in such city, which taxes were paid
into the State treasury by such banks instead of into the city treasury
under a misconception of the law by the city assessing officer. The money
hereby appropriated shall be paid by the treasurer of Virginia, on war-
rant of the Comptroller, issued on a voucher signed by the State Tax
Commissioner.
