Chap. 374.—An ACT for the relief of I. J. Smith. [S B 130]
Approved April 1, 1942
Whereas, by chapter two hundred and fifty of the Acts of the
General Assembly of nineteen hundred and thirty-eight, approved March
twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred and thirty-eight, there was appropriated
to the Department of Public Welfare the sum of twelve hundred dollars
to be administered by the department for the benefit and relief of I. J.
Smith, who was seriously injured while working in the elevator shaft in
the State office building, as fully set forth in said act ; and,
Whereas, by chapter two hundred and fifty-four of the Acts of the
General Assembly of nineteen hundred and forty, the said I. J. Smith was
granted further relief in the sum of twelve hundred dollars, practically
all of which has been expended for his benefit, and he is yet physically
unable to engage in any gainful occupation, and has no means of sup-
porting himself or his family ; and,
Whereas, it is deemed proper that he be granted further relief ; now,
therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That there
is hereby appropriated from the general fund in the State treasury, the
further sum of twelve hundred dollars to the State Board of Public
Welfare to be administered by said Board for the benefit and relief of
the said I. J. Smith.
