Chap. 339.—An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding thereto a new Sec-
tion numbered 1515-b, to prohibit the removal of cases of infectious, contagious,
communicable or dangerous diseases from one health jurisdiction to another ex-
cept with the permission of the health officers of both jurisdictions, and to
prescribe penalty for failure to comply therewith. [H B 356]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
Code of Virginia be amended by adding thereto a new section numbered
fifteen hundred and fifteen-b, as follows:
Section 1515-b. Removal of cases of communicable disease—No
person affected with an infectious, contagious, communicable or danger-
ous disease shall be removed from any city, town or county within this
State to any other city, town or county except with the permission of the
health officer from whose jurisdiction such person is removed and the
permission of the health officer into whose jurisdiction such person is to
be removed; or except with the permission of attending physician and
the hospital to which patient is referred, if such patient is so referred;
and such removal shall be by means of a private conveyance in charge of
a responsible person and conducted in such manner as to prevent en route
the exposure of other persons to the patient. The health officer, or the
physician in attendance, from whose jurisdiction such person is removed
shall report the name of each person for whom such permission has been
granted to the State Health Commissioner, stating the disease, the address
from which the person was removed, and the address to which the person
was transported. In those cities, towns, or counties which do not have
local health departments permission of the secretary of the local board
of health shall be obtained in lieu of permission from the health officer.
The provisions of this act shall not apply to the removal of such persons

from a city, town or county to a hospital or other like institution owned
or operated by such city, town or county and situated in another city,
town or county.
Any person failing to comply with the provisions of this section shall
be fined not less than five nor more than fifty dollars for each offense.
