Chap. 269.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 11, as heretofore amended, of
Chapter 527 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1891-92, approved March 1,
1892, which chapter incorporated the town of Gate City (formerly Estillville),
in the county of Scott, relating to levying taxes, and to repeal Chapter 7 of the
Acts of the General Assembly of 1912, approved January 30, 1912, relating to
the same matter. : [H B 382]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That section
eleven, as heretofore amended, of chapter five hundred and twenty-seven
of the Acts of the General Assembly of eighteen hundred and ninety-one-
two, approved March first, eighteen hundred and ninety-two, be amended
and re-enacted, as follows:
Section 11. The council of said town may lay a sufficient levy an-
nually, on all the property in the town subject to local taxation, for the
purpose of defraying the expenses incurred by the town, or for the pur-
pose of erecting buildings and making improvements deemed necessary
by the council; provided that the levy so laid shall not exceed two dollars
on the one hundred dollars assessed value of such property, and that no
other property, trade, profession, or occupation shall be liable for taxation,
than that which is so taxable by the laws of this State.
2. Be it further enacted, That chapter seven of the Acts of the
General Assembly of nineteen hundred and twelve, approved January
thirtieth, nineteen hundred and twelve, is hereby repealed.
