Chap. 268.—An ACT to validate the recordation of certain deeds, wills, and other
instruments and writings heretofore copied on the deed books and will books in
the clerks’ offices of certain courts, under certain conditions. [H B 359]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That any
deed or other instrument or writing heretofore spread upon the proper
deed book in the clerk’s office of the circuit court of any county, or any
court of record of any city, where the clerk of such court failed to sign the
certificate of recordation thereof and afterwards died; and any will or
other instrument or writing heretofore spread upon the proper will book
in any such clerk’s office, where such clerk failed to sign the certificate of
probate and recordation thereof and afterwards died, shall, after one year
from the effective date of this act, be as valid, and of the same force and
effect, as 1f such certificate of recordation, or certificate of probate and
recordation, had been signed by such clerk at the time such deed, will or
other instrument or writing was so spread of record.
