Chap. 148.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 3, as heretofore amended, of
an act entitled “An Act to incorporate the town of La Crosse, Mecklenburg
County, Virginia.”, approved February 15, 1901, relating to municipal officers.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That section
three, as heretofore amended, of an act entitled ‘An Act to incorporate the
town of La Crosse, Mecklenburg county, Virginia.”, approved F ebruary
fifteenth, nineteen hundred and one, be amended and re-enacted, as fol-
lows:
‘Section 3. The municipal officers of said town shall consist of a
mayor, six councilmen, treasurer, recorder and a sergeant. The mayor and
councilmen shall be elected by the qualified voters of said town, and all
persons qualified to vote in said election shall be eligible for any of said
offices. Both the office of recorder and treasurer may be held by the same
person, who shall be elected to that office by the majority vote of the
council, and the sergeant, who does not necessarily have to be a qualified
voter of the town, shall be appointed by the mayor, subject to confirma-
tion by the majority vote of the council.
