1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
Code of Virginia be amended by adding a new section numbered forty-
five hundred and eight-a, as follows:
Section 4508-a. Escape of prisoner before or after conviction,
vithout force, violence, or by setting fire to a jail; how punished.—lf
any person, lawfully confined in jail on a charge or conviction of a
sriminal offense, escape, otherwise than by force or violence or by setting
fre to the jail, he shall be confined in jail not less than thirty days nor
more than six months.
