Chap. 44.—-An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 5215 of the Code of Virginia,
relating to the appointment of attorneys in fact by married women and the
powers of such attorneys. [H B 77]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That
section fifty-two hundred and fifteen of the Code of Virginia be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 5215. Appointment of attorney in fact by married
women; effect of writing executed by such attorney.—A married
woman, whether a resident of this State or not, may, by power of
attorney duly executed and acknowledged as prescribed in section
fifty-two hundred and five or fifty-two hundred and six, appoint an
attorney in fact to execute and acknowledge, for her and in her name,
any deed or other writing which she might execute. Every deed or
other writing so executed by such attorney in fact in pursuance of
said power of attorney while the same remains in force, shall be valid
and effectual, in all respects, to convey the interest and title of such
married woman in and to any real estate thereby conveyed or other-
wise transferred, and to bar her right of dower therein.
