Chap. 359.—An ACT to Amend and Re-enact the Fifth Section of an Act
Entitled ‘‘An Act to Appropriate the Income Arising from the Pro.
ceeds of the Land Scrip Accruing to Virginia Under Act of Congress of
July 2d, 1862, and the Acts Amendatory thereof.”

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the fifth section of the act entitled an act to appropriate the
income arising from the proceeds of the land scrip accruing tc
Virginia under act of congress of July second, eighteen hun.
dred and sixty-two, and the acts amendatory thereof, be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 5. As soon after the passage of this act as practicable, and
on the first day of January, eighteen hundred and seventy-
three, and on the same day in every third year thereafter, the
governor, with the advice and consent of the senate, shall
appoint nine persons as visitors of the said college, who shall
continue in office until the appointment and acceptance of their
successors, and if any vacancy occur in the office of visitor, the
governor shall fillthe same. The board of education and the
president of the Virginia state agricultural society shall be
ex-officio members of the board of visitors of the Virginia agri-
cultural and mechanical college, and of the board of curators
of the Hampton normal and agricultural institute.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
