1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That it
shall be unlawful for any person to deliver, or cause to be delivered,
to any prisoner in the jail of any county, city or town, any alcoholic
beverage as defined in ‘“The Alcoholic Beverage Control Act.’’ Any
person violating this act shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon
conviction thereof, shall be fined not less than ten dollars nor more
than one hundred dollars; provided, however, that this act shall not
apply to any case where the jail physician prescribed any such beverage
for use by any such jail prisoner.
