Chap. 318.—An ACT for the relief of Bernice M. Bull. | [SB 311]

Whereas, a certain boat known as the ““Armstrong”’ and belonging
to the Commission of Fisheries, while on patrol duty in the Chesa-
peake Bay on August fifteenth, nineteen hundred and thirty-nine,
with seven passengers and two crew members on board, caught fire
by reason of its imperfect working conditions; and
Whereas, one Alfred P. Bull, a passenger on the said boat at the
time of the said fire, was severely burned and died shortly thereafter
by reason thereof, leaving his widow, Bernice M. Bull and two daugh-
ters of tender years without means of sustenance and in destitut
circumstances; and
Whereas, it is deemed fitting and proper that the said widov
should be compensated for this loss of her means of livelihood anc
that some provision should be made for the support and maintenanc
of the orphans of the said Bull who lost his life by reason of his passag
on a defective boat belonging to the said agency of the Common
wealth; Now, Therefore,
1. Beit enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That th
Comptroller be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to drav
his warrant on the State Treasurer, in favor of Bernice M. Bull, fo
the support and maintenance of herself and her said daughters, in th
sum of five hundred dollars, which sum shall be paid to the saic
Bernice M. Bull by the State Treasurer upon the said warrant ou
of any funds collected and paid into the State treasury by the Com
mission of Fisheries and appropriated to the said Commission.
