Approved March 27, 1940
Whereas, by chapter two hundred and fifty of the Acts of the
General Assembly of nineteen hundred and thirty-eight, approved
March twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred and thirty-eight, there was
appropriated to the Department of Public Welfare the sum of twelve

and relief of I. J. Smith, who was seriously injured while working in
the elevator shaft in the State office building, as fully set forth in
said act; and,
Whereas, practically all of the said sum has been expended by
the said department, for the purpose for which it was appropriated,
and the said I. J. Smith is yet physically unable to engage in any
gainful occupation, and has no means of supporting himself or his
family; and,
Whereas, it is deemed proper that further relief be granted him;
Now, Therefore,

there be, and hereby is appropriated from the general fund in the
State treasury, the further sum of twelve hundred dollars to the
Board of Public Welfare, to be administered by the said Board for
the benefit and relief of the said I. J. Smith.
