Chap. 119.—An ACT to authorize, empower and direct the board of directors of
the State Penitentiary to convey to the city of Richmond a small strip of the
land occupied by said Penitentiary. [S. B. 158]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That
the board of directors of the State Penitentiary be, and it hereby is,
authorized, empowered and directed, for and on behalf of the Com-
monwealth of Virginia, to convey to the city of Richmond for in-
clusion in Byrd Street, by apt and proper deed with special warranty
of title, to be signed and executed by such person or persons as may
be thereunto authorized by said board, a small triangular strip or
parcel of the land occupied by said penitentiary, the same being
bounded and described as follows:
Beginning at a corner stone on the south side of Byrd Street at
an angle in the concrete wall of the Commonwealth of Virginia peni-
tentiary, thence in an easterly direction along the south line of Byrd
Street as now opened six hundred fifteen and forty-seven one-hun-
dredths feet to a point, which point is one hundred and thirty feet
west of First Street and is on the northern line of Byrd Street pro-
jected from the east, thence in a southerly direction along a line
parallel to and distanced one hundred and thirty feet west of First
Street thirty-nine and ninety-six one-hundredths feet to a point,
thence in a westerly direction and a part of the way along the con-
crete wall of the penitentiary six hundred eighteen and fifty-seven
one-hundredths feet to the point of beginning. All as shown enclosed
in red lines on a plan on file in the office of the Director of Public
Works of the city of Richmond entitled ‘‘Proposed change in the
south line of Byrd Street between Jefferson and First Street’? and
dated May fourth, nineteen hundred and thirty-eight, file numbered
N-fifty-one hundred and thirty-one.
