Chap. 258.—An ACT to Define and Extend the Corporate Limits of the
Town of Farmville, in the County of Prince Edward.
Approved March 19, 1872.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the boundaries of the town of Farmville, in the county of
Prince Edward, shall be extended and defined as follows, to
wit: Beginning at a point on the Appomattox river above and
west of its present boundary linc, at a memorial stone planted
at a beach now on said river; thence south (29) twenty-nine
degrees, two hundred and forty-five and one-fourth poles to a
memorial stone on the lands now owned and occupied by
Albert Hurd; thence north sixty-one degrees, east two hun-
dred and forty-one and one-half poles to memorial stone
planted on the lands of Watson and Blanton; thence twenty-
nine degrees, east three hundred and thirty-six and one-half
poles to memorial stone planted on the Appomattox river;
thence up the said river as it meanders to the beginning, and
shall include all the territory now occupied and ineluded with-
in the existing corporate limits of said town of Farmville, and
all the territory included inthe lines herein mentioned as an
extension of said corporate limits.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
Chap. 258.—An ACT to Fix the Compensation of the Members of the
Board of Supervisors of Lee, Wise, Scott, Buchanan, Russell and
Bland Counties, and for other purposes.
Approved March 21, 1872.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the members of the board of supervisors of the counties of
Lee, Scott, Wise, Buchanan, Russell and Bland shall receive
each a per diem of two dollars for their services for attending
on said board, to be paid out of the county treasury; but not
to exceed ten days in any one year.
2. The judges and clerks of any election held under chapter
seventy-six of the acts of eighteen hundred and sixty-nine—
seventy, entitled an act to provide for a general election, ap-
proved May eleventh, eighteen hundred and seventy, shall
receive a per diem compensation for their services of one dollar
each; and the judge carrying the returns from his township to
the county clerk's office shall receive for said services the sum
of five cents for each mile necessarily travelled—but not to
exceed one dollar—to be paid out of the county treasury.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
