Chap. 25,—JOINT RESOLUTION Extending the Time for the Collec.
tion of Taxes and County Levies in the County of Buckingham, for
the year eighteen hundred and seventy.

Whereas, it 1s represented to the general assembly of Vir.
ginia, that in the county of Buckingham, of this state, the
assessors’ books were greatly delayed because of vacancies ir
the office of assessor and sheriff, and from other causes, anc
he taxes of two years have come upon the people of that
‘ounty at one time: therefore,
1. Be it resolved by the general assembly of Virginia, That
he sheriff of Buckingham be allowed the same time to proceed
vith and close up his several collections, as is now allowed by
aw to the several collectors of taxes and county and township
levies of the cities, towns and townships of this state, and the
3ame time to make his final settlement with the auditortof
public accounts, or other proper officer, as is now allowed to
county treasurers: provided, the extension of time hereby
granted shall not apply to taxes and county and township
levies already collected, and in the hands of said sheriff, but
that all collections made by him prior to the first day of De
cember, eighteen hundred and seventy-one, shall be paid by
him into the treasury at the time prescribed by law.
