Chap. 229.—An ACT to Amend and Re-enact the 3d Section of Chapter
48, of the Code of 1860, in Relation to the Compensation of Justices
of the Peace.
Approved March 18, 1872.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That section three
of chapter forty-eight of the Code of eighteen hundred and
sixty, in relation to the compensation and fees of justices of
the peace, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
“s 3. The justices of the peace shall receive, for taking
depositions, for taking and certifying the acknowledgment of
any deed or writing, or taking and certifying the privy exami-
nation and acknowledgment of a married woman, the same
fees now allowed by law to a notary public, to be paid by the
person for whom the service is rendered. Hach and every
justice of the peace shall receive, as a compensation for every
oath administered, not in court, and every acknowledgment
taken by him and requiring his certificate, and for every pro-
cess of attachment issued by him, the sum of twenty-five cents,
to be paid by the person or persons for whom the said official
acts are performed.”
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
