Chap. 61.—An ACT to provide additional funds for the operation of the Bank-
ing Division of the State Corporation Commission by authorizing the said
Commission to increase the fees and assessments for examination, supervision,
registration and licensing of State banks and trust companies, building and
loan associations, industrial loan associations, credit unions and small loan
companies, and to prohibit the imposition of such fees and assessments upon
National banks, to repeal all acts and parts of acts inconsistent with this
act, and for other purposes. [H B 176]
Approved March 4, 1938
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That in
order to provide additional funds for the operation of the Banking
Division of the State Corporation Commission, the said State Cor-
poration Commission hereby is authorized to increase the fees and
assessments for the examination, supervision, registration and licensing
of State banks and trust companies, building and loan associations,
industrial loan associations, credit unions and small loan companies,
to the extent of fifty per centum of the fees and assessments imposed
by law as of January first, nineteen hundred and thirty-four; provided,
however, that no such fees and assessments shall hereafter be imposed
upon any national bank.
2. That the Banking Division of the State Corporation Commission
is also authorized hereby to charge each State bank or trust company
at the rate of ten ($10.00) dollars per day, per man and expenses
therefor, when examining the trust departments of the said banks
and trust companies under the supervision of the State Corporation
Commission.
3. That all acts, and parts of acts, Code sections and parts thereof
inconsistent with this act be, and the same hereby are, repealed, to the
extent of such inconsistency.
4. That an emergency existing this act shall be in force from its
passage.
