Chap. 360.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors or other governing
body of any county to appropriate funds for the purpose of compensating
dependents of any sheriff or deputy sheriff heretofore or hereafter killed
in the performance of his duties. [H B 430]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
board of supervisors or other governing body of any county in this
State, shall have authority, in its discretion, to appropriate out of
the general county levy such funds as it may deem proper for the
purpose of compensating the dependents of any sheriff or deputy sheriff
of such county who has been, or may hereafter be killed while engaged
in the performance of his official duties.
