Chap. 261.—An ACT to require the sheriff and his deputies and all other offi-
cers of the county of Buchanan, authorized to make arrests, to wear uniforms
or some insignia of office, while in performance of their duties, and to pro-
vide for forfeiture of office for failure to comply with such requirement.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
sheriff of the county of Buchanan and all of his deputies, and all
other officers of said county authorized by law to make arrests, be,
and they are hereby, required either to wear uniforms or to wear,
conspicuously displayed on their clothing, such insignia of office as
will make them readily recognizable as officers, at all times while in
the performance of their duties as such officers. The sheriff, or any
deputy sheriff, or any other such officer of said county, who shall not be
wearing such uniform or insignia of office at the time he makes, or
assists in making, any arrest, shall forfeit his office, which forfeiture
shall be entered of record by the circuit court of said county, upon
such fact being shown to the court.
