Chap. 256.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 16 of an act entitled ‘An
act to provide a new charter for the city of Alexandria, Virginia”, ap-
proved March 24, 1932, in relation to filling vacancies, so as to include the
civil and police justice and provide that the civil and police justice shall be
judge of the juvenile and domestic relations court; and to repeal an act
entitled “An act to amend and re-enact Section 16 of an act entitled an act
to provide a new charter for the city of Alexandria, Virginia, approved
March 24, 1932, relating to filling vacancies”, approved March 14, 1936.

I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That sec-
ion sixteen of an act entitled an act to provide a new charter for the
ity of Alexandria, Virginia, approved March twenty-fourth, nineteen
1undred and thirty-two, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as
‘ollows:
Section 16. In case of a vacancy arising in the office of civil and
olice justice or in any other elective municipal office mentioned in this
harter, except as otherwise provided, it shall be the duty of the coun-
il to certify the same to the judge of the corporation court, who shall
ssue his writ for an election to fill such vacancy in the manner pre-
cribed by the general election laws of this State.
From and after the effective date of this act, the civil and police
ustice of the city of Alexandria shall ex-officio be the judge of the
uvenile and domestic relations court of said city. .
2. Be it further enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia,
