Chap. 214.—An ACT to authorize the trustees of the Shenandoah Valley Acad-
emy, at Winchester, to sell and convey to the purchasers, certain lands of
said Academy, situated in the western section of said city, the title to which
is in said trustees; to authorize said trustees to make and enforce build-
ing regulations and to enter into contracts concerning the laying out and
grading of certain streets; and to authorize said trustees to apply the
proceeds of such sales to the payment of part of the costs of grading such
streets and the installation of water and sewer lines, and, to the payment
of certain indebtedness of said Academy. [S B 236]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
trustees of the Shenandoah Valley Academy, at Winchester, Virginia,
and their successors, or a majority of them, be, and they are hereby
authorized to sell and convey to the purchasers for a price or consider-
ation and upon terms to be approved by such trustees, or a majority
of them, that certain lot of land in Winchester, Virginia, the title to
which is now in said trustees, which is situated on Virginia Highway
Route fifty, in the western section of said city, or any portion, section
or subdivision thereof; and the said trustees, or their successors, or
a majority of them, are hereby authorized to subdivide said tract of
land or so much thereof as they may from time to time deem best into
lots of such dimensions as they deem best and to sell and convey the
same for such consideration and upon such terms as the trustees may
determine to be for the best interest of the said Shenandoah Valley
Academy. And no obligation shall rest upon the purchaser or pur-
chasers to see to the application of the purchase money, and there shall
be no personal liability on the trustees for carrying out the purposes
hereof. The trustees are empowered to make and enforce such build-
ing regulations as they may determine to be best. The trustees are
empowered to make such contract or contracts with the city of Win-
chester, or abutting landowners, as they may deem best, to the end
that said proposed street may be planned, graded and completed, in-
cluding the determination of the width, grade and finish of said street.
The said trustees, or their successors, or a majority of them, are
authorized to apply the proceeds from the sale of said lots of land to
the payment of such part of the costs of said street, of the cost of
sewer and water service to the occupants of said lot and to the grading
and preparation of such lots for sale as the trustees may determine
to pay; and to the payment of any debts contracted under an act en-
titled an act to amend and re-enact an act entitled “An act to au-
thorize the trustees of the Shenandoah Valley Academy, of Winchester,
Virginia, to contract a debt and to secure the payment of the same
by deed of trust on real estate held by said trustees”, approved Sep-
tember thirteenth, nineteen hundred and thirty-three, so as to authorize
the trustees of the Shenandoah Valley Academy, of Winchester, Vir-
ginia, to contract debts and to secure the payment of the same; or
to the payment of any other debts contracted by the trustees for the
maintenance or improvement of the Shenandoah Valley Academy prop-
erty.
