Chap. 159.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 6564 of the Code of Virginia,
making certain liens on property of a householder void, so as to provide
that such liens shall be valid when given to obtain money with which to
purchase such property. [fH B 387]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That sec-
tion sixty-five hundred and sixty-four of the Code of Virginia, be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 6564. Every deed of trust, mortgage, or other writing,
or pledge made by a householder to give a lien on property exempt
from distress or levy under section sixty-five hundred and fifty-two
shall be void as to such property; provided that this section shall have
no application where such deed of trust, mortgage, pledge or other
writing is given to secure a loan made to allow the householder to
purchase such property and is only on the property purchased with
the proceeds of such loan.
