Chap. 148.—An ACT Declaring what shall be Received in Payment o
Taxes or other Demands of the State.
In force March 7, 1872.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, Tha
hereafter, it shall not be lawful for the officers charged witl
the collection of taxes or other demands of the state, due nov
or that shall hereafter become due, to receive in payment thereo
any thing else than gold or silver coin, United States treasur
notes or notes of the national banks of the United States.
2. All acts or parts of acts inconsistent with tlis act are
hereby repealed.
3. This act shall be in force from and after its passage.
