Chap. 358.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act entitled an act authorizing
the board of supervisors of Smyth county to make annual allowances, as
salaries, to two deputy sheriffs in said county, approved March 14, 1924.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That an act
entitled an act authorizing the board of supervisors of Smyth county
to make annual allowances, as salaries, to two deputy sheriffs in said
county, approved March fourteenth, nineteen hundred and twenty-four,
be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 1. The board of supervisors of Smyth county is hereby
authorized, if in the opinion of a majority of the board it is necessary,
to make annual allowances, as salaries, to two deputy sheriffs of said
county, one in a sum of not more than six hundred dollars, and one in
a sum of not more than three hundred dollars, which allowances shall
be paid out of the treasury of said county as the board may direct.
The deputy sheriffs who shall receive said allowances as salary
shall be the two whose names have been, or shall be, certified to the
board by the sheriff after the approval of their appointment by the
court.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its pas-_
sage.
