Chap. 345.—An ACT to prohibit the pollution of certain waters in the county of
Isle of Wight, and to prescribe penalties for violations thereof. [H B 353]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That it shall
be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation hereafter to construct
any buildings for the disposal of human waste or excretions, or to
maintain any pen or enclosure in which cattle, hogs or other animals
are kept, or to lay any sewer pipes, or drains from stables or other
buildings in which horses, cattle or other animals are kept on the
shores or banks of any of the tidal waters, or on the shores or banks
of any of the streams in the county of Isle of Wight, so that the
drainage from such buildings, pens, sewers or drains shall mingle
with and pollute any of the tidal waters in such county, or to cast, or
cause to be cast, any dead animals or fowls into any such waters.
Any person, firm or corporaton violating any of the foregoing
provisions shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine of not
less than five dollars nor more than one hundred dollars for each
offense.
