Chap. 322.—An ACT authorizing the Rector and Visitors of the University of
Virginia to sell and convey certain lands. [S B 214]

Whereas, The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia has
heretofore received gifts and devises of numerous pieces of real estate
located both within and without the State of Virginia, and will, no
doubt, hereafter, receive similar gifts and devises, which said properties
have been, and will be, conveyed and devised to it; and
Whereas, The proper and economical management of the property
so conveyed will necessitate the sale, from time to time, of certain par-
cels or lots of said land, and the immediate conveyance thereof, now,
therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia be, and are hereby
authorized to sell and convey any and all real estate to which it has
acquired title by gift or devise since January first, nineteen hundred,
or which may hereafter be conveyed or devised to it. The proceeds
derived from any such sale or sales shall be held by said The Rector
and Visitors of the University of Virginia upon the identical trusts, and
subject to the same uses, limitations and condition, if any, that are
expressed in the original deed or will under which its title was derived,
or if there be no such trusts, uses, limitations or conditions expressed
in such original deed or will, then said funds shall be applied by the
Rector and Board of Visitors of the University to such purposes as
said board may deem best for the University.
