Chap. 26.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 269 of the Code of Virginia,
relating to the form of general oath to be taken and subscribed by every
person before entering upon the discharge of any function as an officer of

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That section
two hundred and sixty-nine of the Code of Virginia be amended and
re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 269. Form of general oath_—Every person before entering
upon the discharge of any function as an officer of this State shall
take and subscribe the following oath: “I do solemnly swear (or
affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States, and
the Constitution of the State of Virginia, and that I will faithfully and
impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent on me
