Chap. 252.—An ACT to authorize the State Highway Commission to expend
out of funds appropriated to it derived from the tax on motor vehicle fuels
the sum of $25,000, for the maintenance and improvement of airplane and
airship landing fields owned or leased and operated on a non-profit basis by
the counties, cities and towns of the State; and to empower the counties of
the State to acquire, establish and operate airplane and airship landing fields.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, as follows:
Section 1. Authorizing Counties to Establish and Maintain Air-
Parks and Aerial Highways.—All counties in this State are hereby
authorized and empowered to acquire, establish, construct, own, lease,
equip, improve, maintain and operate airplane and airship landing
fields. The land and other property used by the counties for such
purposes shall be acquired through purchase, lease, gift, or otherwise.
Section 2. The State Highway Commission is hereby authorized
to expend out of funds derived from the State tax on motor vehicle
fuels and appropriated to the State Highway Commission, not exceed-
ing the sum of twenty-five thousand dollars for each year of the
biennium for the maintenance and improvement of airplane or airship
landing fields owned or leased and operated by any of the counties,
cities and towns of this State, for the privilege of landing or parking
in or on such fields, provided that no part of such funds shall be
expended on any such landing field if same be operated for profit.
The funds herein authorized to be expended as above provided
represent the estimated motor vehicle fuel tax paid annually by opera-
tors of airships and airplanes for which no claim for refund is made.
