Chap. 243.—An ACT to provide for the creation of a commission for the cele-
bration of the 150th anniversary of the formation of the Constitution of the
United States; to prescribe the duties of said commission; and to appropriate
funds to carry out the provisions of this act. [S B 348]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That for the
celebration of the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the formation
of the Constitution of the United States within the State of Virginia,
there is hereby created and established a commission, to be known as
the Constitution Sesquicentennial Commission of Virginia, which shall
be composed of the Governor who shall be chairman thereof, the Lieu-
tenant Governor, the Speaker of the House of Delegates and six mem-
bers, two of whom shall be appointed by the Governor, two by the
President of the Senate from the membership of the Senate, and two
by the Speaker of the House of Delegates from the membership of the
House of Delegates.
The commission shall prepare plans and programs for an adequate
celebration in this State of the Sesquicentennial Anniversary of the
formation of said Constitution, giving due and proper consideration to
any plans which may be submitted to it ; and shall contact and cooperate
with the United States Constitution Sesquicentennial Commission in
connection with plans for a nation-wide celebration. The members of
the commission hereby created shall serve without compensation, but
shall be paid their actual and necessary traveling and hotel expenses
incurred in the discharge of their duties as such members.
For the purpose of providing the funds to carry out the provisions
of this act, there is hereby appropriated out of any moneys in the State
treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of one thousand
($1,000.00) dollars, as so much thereof as shall be necessary, which
shall be paid out of the State treasury by the State Treasurer on war-
rants of the Comptroller issued upon vouchers signed by the Governor.
