Chap. 408.—An ACT to authorize and empower the Medical College of Virginia,
through its board of visitors to provide from time to time for the extension,
renewal or payment of its existing obligations, and for that purpose to borrow
money to refund a present bonded indebtedness, to execute evidences of debt
and secure same by deed of trust or mortgage. [S B 238]

Whereas, the Medical College of Virginia owes certain monies se-
cured by deed or deeds of trust and mortgage or mortgages upon its
properties, due and to become due, and which said college is unable to

Whereas, it is necessary to refund and renew its obligations and in-
debtedness from time to time, to issue bonds, notes or other evidences
of indebtedness, and to secure the same by deed of trust or mortgage
upon its property or any part thereof; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
Medical College of Virginia, acting through and by its board of vis-
itors, is hereby given power and authority by a resolution of its board
of visitors to extend, refund or/and renew from time to time any of
its present outstanding bonds, notes or other evidences of indebtedness
secured by deed of trust or mortgage upon its property or any part
thereof, and for that purpose to borrow money from time to time and
issue its bonds, notes or other evidences of indebtedness, for the pur-
pose of refunding, extending, renewing or paying any of its existing
bonds, notes or other evidences of indebtedness as and when it may
be necessary to do so, and to secure the payment of the said bonds,
notes and evidences of indebtedness by deed or deeds of trust or mort-
gage or mortgages upon all or any part of its property, and to do all
acts and things necessary or proper in connection with the exercise of
the power and authority herein conveyed.
The notes, bonds or other evidences of indebtedness and deeds of
trust and mortgages executed in pursuance of the authority herein given
shall be signed by the president and countersigned by the secretary of
said college and, whenever necessary, said secretary shall affix his seal
to any paper executed by said college.
